### The Farming Museum at Winsen, with 15 half-timbered  farm buildings

On the edge of the Südheide, in Winsen an der Aller, is the Farming Museum of Rural Life, with 15 half-timbered farm buildings from the 17th to 19th centuries. Find out interesting facts about different plants from perennials, to herbs and plants for dyes, which were all essential to the cottage garden. Let us show you how linen was made from flax and turned into clothing. Experience the everyday life of the rural folk of over a hundred years ago – from drawing water from the well, using a spinning wheel and loom, a winnowing machine and a granary; see the open hearth in the middle of the house.

The 1st May and the 2nd Sunday in August are the annual "highlights" in the calendar of events: the baking days.  Come and sample different types of traditional bread, such as ‘Luffen’ and delicious ‘Bodderkaucken’ baked in a traditional stone oven. Classic car enthusiasts meet on the last Sunday in September. In our cosy museum café you can enjoy homemade cakes, coffee specialties and delicious snacks made from regional specialities.
