Franz Schubert’s heavenly octet truly transcends boundaries. In his own words, he wanted to “pave the way to the great symphony,” and thus created a composition that beautifully demonstrates his ingenuity in melody and harmony, ranging from the most intimate soundscapes to orchestral grandeur. Oliver Wille, violinist, professor of chamber music, and artistic director of the Hitzacker Summer Music Festival, has assembled a hand-picked ensemble of young musicians who approach this work by the then 27-year-old composer with invigorating freshness.
